The Spirograph burst onto the market in the mid 1960s and dealt the baby boomers with equal doses of pleasure and frustration. The toy is based on hypotrochoid geometry and can create beautiful and mesmerising patterns in infinite varieties.

Bringing the old game in line with urban youth culture for a Converse event in west London, I designed and developed this contraption using old bike parts. The end product is a totally unique record sleeve, given away during the event with some tasty promo vinyl.

I worked through about three permutations of the SprayCan Spirograph during this project, and have now shelved it until I can find the time to perfect the machine. Ultimately I will create pristine single-piece, circular canvases.
