  Perhaps the main achievement of this sign, besides the unusual geometric construction, is the way it changes as you move passed it. The gill-like surfaces seem to disappear into black and reappear as a glorious green mirror, outlining and then completely engulfing the ornate text in front of it.

a green beaconHackney Wick has its fair share of scaff-plank chevrons and reclaimed timber structures, maybe its time for something cleaner and more scientific? Based on the Fresnel Lens, I designed this sign to stand out from the surrounding post industrial area - and that it does!Fish Island Labs are a temporary artists' studio space initiative from The Trampery and the Barbican Centre, based on Swan Wharf in Hackney Wick, where lots of similay exciting projects are currently happening.
